Sunset Association provides a highly competitive and comprehensive benefits package to our employees. While several benefits are offered only to full-time (32+ hours/week) employees, employees working less than full-time can participate in some. While our current benefits are listed below, we review and update the package annually to ensure we are competitive in what we offer. Most benefits are available after your first 90 days of employment.

Health Insurance – Coverage is provided through Blue Care Network of Michigan's Health Blue Living Plan. www.mibcn.com Coverage is available for single, double, and family coverage.

Dental Insurance – Single, double, or family coverage is available.

Life Insurance – Full-time employees are eligible for various amounts of company-paid life insurance depending on their position and salary. All employees working 20 hours or more are eligible to purchase supplemental life insurance for themselves, their spouse, or dependents. Insurance is offered through Jefferson Pilot Financial.

Short-Term Disability – After 1 full year of employment all hourly employees who regularly work 32 hours or more per week are eligible to receive up to 60% of weekly wages for any short-term disability that prevents them from working.

Long-Term Disability – All full-time employees are eligible for long-term disability protection. This protection is similar to short-term disability and starts after all short-term disability benefits have been exhausted by an employee.

FlexCo – This is an IRS Section 125 plan that ALL employees are eligible to participate in. Employees may set dollars aside PRE-TAX to pay for qualified health related expenses or dependent care expenses.

403(b) Retirement Plan – You are allowed to designate a portion of your pre-tax income into this retirement plan offered through a variety of companies. Sunset will match your contribution 100% on the first 5% of pay. Sunset offers an assortment of excellent investment options through the American Funds.

Tuition Reimbursement – In line with Sunset Association's firm commitment to education, a tuition reimbursement program is offered to all employees after 1 year of employment. Reimbursement levels are based on number of hours worked and successful completion of the course. Classes, of course, must be related to current or future positions held within the organization.

Paid Time Off – In recognition of the need to maintain a work/life balance, Sunset Association offers employees a competitive PTO policy to allow for time off for Holidays, Vacations, and Sick Days.

Paid Holidays – Being a 24/7 operation, it is essential to have some staff work holidays. For the staff required to work the following holidays, Sunset offers double-time for the hours worked on the holiday. These include:

  • Christmas
  • New Years Day
  • Easter
  • Memorial Day
  • 4th of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
