Occupational Therapists assist residents in helping to restore their ability to perform activities of daily living safely & independently or by teaching them strategies on equipment to make tasks easier. All Brookcrest Occupational Therapists & Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants have passed the national certification exam, and are licensed by the State of Michigan and are members of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
Physical Therapists provide services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. They restore, maintain and promote overall fitness and health. Their patients include accident victims, and individuals with disabling conditions such as low back pain, arthritis, heart disease, fractures, and neurological deficits. They are all graduates of fully accredited physical therapy programs and the registered physical therapist is licensed by the state of Michigan.
Recreation Therapists provide treatment using recreation and leisure to improve or maintain functional abilities. Recreation Therapists address physical, cognitive, leisure, social/communication and community skills, as well as emotional issues. Clinicians are nationally certified by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification with the C.T.R.S. credential (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) after completing a Bachelor's degree program and clinical internship. CTRS' work closely with the interdisciplinary team to enhance a patient's quality of life.
